Weird Word Wise Activities & Materials for Teaching High Frequency Words
High Frequency words account for 50% to 60% of all ordinary text. Students who cannot read or spell these words automatically must be taught these words systematically and intensively. Drilling the words as though they are pictures to be memorized is not an effective method with a large numbers of students. Weird Word Wise provides methods and materials for teaching 320 high frequency words. Students learn to read and spell the words accurately and rapidly, and to use the words correctly in oral and written sentences. ¨Word Wise Student Book Level 2 --Presents complex one-syllable word patterns, prefixes, suffixes, compound words multi-syllabic words, contractions and abbreviations. The work with suffixes is quite extensive and fills the gap left in almost all other published programs. The study of affixes will prepare students for guided and independent work with advanced vocabulary. Students will develop the ability to recognize various forms of words, including the parts of speech and the correct usage of the forms.
Word Wise Level 1 Activity Book Digital Format
This activity book has 200 reproducible pages that are correlated with the Word Wise Student Book Level 1. It is designed to give the students writing and reading practice that supports the fundamental skills needed for reading fluency and comprehension. Many of the activities can be used with level 2 of Word Wise. Teachers successfully use this resource with various core reading programs. It is also very valuable for RTI.
